The Barthimee Medical Hospital was founded in 1998 as a base of operations for rural medical work. While it started in a small house, the four story clinic is now nearing completion and is located in the southeast section of Thies, a city with the second largest population in Senegal. There are two other hospitals and large clinics to serve 350,000 residents. Some of those institutions are privately owned and effectively priced beyond the range affordable to most Senegalese. The Barthimee hospital offers affordable health care to those who otherwise would do without. While waiting, patients are shown the Jesus film so as to attempt to convey the message of hope in a hurting world.
